Clubs
A wide variety of competitive club teams, as well as clubs that broaden students’ experience and teach practical skills, are available to all students.

Envirothon
The Envirothon Team competes on the regional, state, and national levels, and has won six State Championships and two National Championships. In 2018, they took 1st place at the NCF National Envirothon competition.

Science Olympiad
The Science Olympiad Team has consistently placed in the top ten at the New York State Science Olympiad competition, placing 4th in 2019. They have won five Regional Championships, and individual team members have earned gold medals at regional and state levels.

Mock Trial
The Mock Trial Team has won three County Championships, two Regional Championships, and been State finalists twice.

Art History
Participants gain familiarity with famous artists, movements, and themes, and have opportunities to create artwork using a wide variety of styles.

Robotics
The Mount Robotics Club competes in the Vex Robotics Competition along with over 20,000 teams worldwide. In the 2021-2022 season, Mount qualified for the third time to be one of the teams representing New York at Vex Worlds in Dallas Texas with 800 teams from 40 countries and 49 states. Although the contests are highly technical and very competitive the main goals of this club are to learn about teamwork, the use of technology to solve problems and to have fun while doing it.

Studio Art
Students learn a variety of drawing and painting techniques, and complete several pieces using a variety of media and styles.

Welding
Students study theory, and practice and master processes including oxy-fuel cutting and welding, SMAW (stick), GTAW (Tig), and GMAW (Mig) welding. Many are awarded the rigorous American Welding Society's 3G Qualification. Advanced students hone their skills with fabrication projects, and may be selected to participate in the SkillsUSA Welding Competition, where our team placed 2nd in the nation in June 2022.

Woodworking
Students learn basic carpentry skills, and gain experience in the use of hand tools, the study of wood types and their applications, drafting, and techniques of wood finishing.

Culinary Arts
Students are introduced to a wide range of skills in baking, cooking, and food service. Students learn to read recipes, prepare and use specific ingredients, manage their time well, minimize waste and mess, and serve a variety of foods and dishes. Safety, hygiene, correct technique and presentation are emphasized. Students may compete in SkillsUSA. In 2022 our student representative took bronze in Commercial Baking at the National SkillsUSA Championships.

Outdoor Construction
Students build outdoor structures such as lean-tos, gazebos, and pavilions using traditional construction methods instead of relying on modern fasteners and power tools. They may make and use hand tools such as slicks and froes, as well as more familiar hand drills and crosscut saws.

Agri-Science
Students are involved in the development and care of Mount Academy’s property and agricultural programs. They learn about turf grass care, landscaping, greenhouse management, machine operation, field crop production, animal husbandry, and soil science. Mount Academy is chartered by the National Future Farmers of America Organization (FFA) and participates in FFA-sponsored events.
